The Moment
The Welcome Home Fund was created to address a growing need across Stanislaus County: helping individuals and families access stable housing in a market that has become increasingly difficult to navigate. We partnered with the Welcome Home Fund to bring clarity and structure to how the program shows up. The goal was to define a brand and communication framework that makes the program easier to understand, easier to access, and more effective in reaching the people it is intended to serve.
Scope of work:
Brand strategy, naming and brand architecture exploration, messaging development, and campaign direction for a regional housing and community support initiative. This work was grounded in a research-led approach, ensuring the brand reflects the needs, realities, and lived experiences of the communities it is designed to serve.
The Work
We approached the Welcome Home Fund as a systems challenge, not just a branding exercise. Every decision was made to reduce confusion, support multiple audiences, and make the program easier to navigate in real life.
Research & Community Insight
We grounded the work in a research-led, ethics-driven approach, taking into account regional context, housing barriers, and the lived experiences of the communities this initiative is designed to serve. This ensured that every decision from naming to messaging was rooted in clarity, dignity, and accessibility.
Brand & Messaging Clarity
We defined clear, direct language around who the program is for, how it works, and what participants can expect. This replaced vague or overly complex explanations with communication that is easy to understand across audiences.
Naming & Brand Architecture Exploration
We explored naming systems and brand structures that could support long-term growth, including how the program could expand regionally while maintaining clarity and recognition at the local level.
Multi-Audience Communication Framework
We built messaging that works across community members, employers, and partners, ensuring each group has a clear entry point while staying aligned under one cohesive narrative.
User Experience & Access Thinking
We considered how people actually encounter and move through the program—from first awareness to application—shaping communication to remove friction and make next steps more obvious.
Comprehensive, Flexible Foundation
Rather than one-off materials, we developed a system that can support future campaigns, partnerships, and program expansion without needing to be rebuilt each time.
The Impact
The Welcome Home Fund now has a clearer, more accessible foundation for growth and community impact.
- Improved clarity around eligibility, program structure, and outcomes
- Stronger alignment across partners, employers, and community stakeholders
- More accessible communication that supports real-world participation
- A scalable brand and messaging system that can expand beyond a single program
- A collaborative working approach that allowed the program to evolve while staying grounded in its mission
